2021 Plano Flag of Honor Events
This year's event will be held at Oak Point Park in Plano, Texas

We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys all week for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Drive and Police Christmas Cops.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 3RD (this is postponed until later today when the rain stops)
- 8:00 a.m. (weather permitting) Do you ever how the flags get lined up so perfectly? Watch and see as the Roome Surveying Crew lays it out for for us.
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4TH
- 10:00 a.m. Come out and see how the field comes to life. It takes many volunteers to install the bases that will ultimately hold the flags in place.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 5TH No Hot Air Balloon Rides tonight due to the wind conditions but one more opportunity tomorrow night and winds are supposed to be much calmer! Check with us around 3:30 p.m. for an update. Also, check our facebook page.
- 10:00 a.m. Things are really taking shape today. The flags and dedication cards are added to the field.
- 6:00 - 8:00 p.m New this year!!! Hot Air Balloon tethered ride to see the flags from above. This is provided by a 3rd party who will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Plano Flags of Honor. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 6TH
- It's finally here! Hot Air Balloon tethered ride is on today from 6:00-8:00! Rumor has it there might be up to 12 balloons tonight!
- Opening Ceremony 12:00 p.m. Students from Wells and Schell Elementary will march to the cadence provided by members of the Dallas Police Department Pipe and Drums Corp. The students will perform the Armed Services Medley and Star Spangled Banner, The Plano East JROTC Panther Battalion will present colors and provide a drill exhibition, all will be followed by cookies and coffee with Veterans.
- The 45th Infantry Living Historians will be at the field throughout the day in period uniforms.
- Camp Howse MVPA (Military Vehicle Preservation Assocation) will have a WWII military jeep and armored scout car on display.
- Frisco Memorial High School will have a Note to a Hero station set up where children and adults can write a note to a veteran or first responder. These will be delivered to veterans overseas and local first responders.
- 3:45 Perfomance by Ladies Liberty
- 6:15 The Harding-Blaine American Legion Post 321 Color Guard will retire colors, perform taps and a gun salute.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 7TH
- Frisco Memorial High School will have a Note to a Hero station set up where children and adults can write a note to a veteran or first responder. These will be delivered to veterans overseas and local first responders.
- 3:45 p.m. Performance by Ladies Liberty
- 5:15 p.m. Boy Scouts Troop 291 to share with us proper flag etiquete and how to properly retire the American Flag, followed by The Harding-Blaine American Legion Post 321 Color Guard Thirteen Flag Fold ceremony.
- 5:30 p.m. Boy Scouts Troop 291 will retire colors followed by taps and a gun salute provided by The Harding-Blaine American Legion Post 321 Color Guard. The public is welcome to bring any flags that are in need of retirement.

- Marine Corps Birthday (cake will be cut after the medal presentation, great photo opportunity!)
- 11:45 - 1:00 Prisoner of War Medal Presentation in honor of First Lieutenant William Jennings Bryan Duncan by Congressman Van Taylor.
- The Harding-Blaine American Legion Post 321 Color Guard will present colors for the presentation.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 11TH
- Veterans Day Observance
- 11:45 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. In Person and Virtual Rotary Meeting to honor Veterans in our Rotary Clubs as well as those in our community. This will be both in person and livestream. Please follow us on FACEBOOK to watch the livestream.
- 5:15 p.m. The Harding-Blaine American Legion Post 321 Color Guard will present colors and at dusk will retire the colors, share with us the meaing of the 13 flag folds, and end the evening with taps and a gun salute.
